Sling makes signing up easy. Canceling? Not quite as obvious.

Whether you're leaving because the free plan got too limited, the Toast acquisition changed things, or you just found something better, here's exactly how to cancel your Sling scheduling subscription or delete your account entirely.

Two different things, by the way. Canceling your subscription drops you to the free plan. Deleting your account wipes everything.

## Cancel Your Sling Subscription (Keep the Free Plan)

![Sling scheduling app homepage](/blog/screenshots/sling-homepage.png)

If you're on Sling Premium ($1.70/user/month) or Business ($3.40/user/month) and want to stop paying, you can downgrade to the free plan.

1. Go to [login.getsling.com](https://login.getsling.com) and log in
2. Click your **name** in the top right corner
3. Select **Account**
4. Click the **Billing** tab
5. Click **Cancel subscription** (or **Downgrade to Premium** if you're on Business)
6. Confirm when it asks if you're sure

You'll see a summary of features you'll lose. Once confirmed, a notification appears on your dashboard confirming the cancellation.

**If you don't see that dashboard notification, the cancellation didn't go through.** Go back and try again.

Your paid features stay active until the end of your current billing cycle. No refund for time already paid.

> **WARNING:**
> You can only cancel from the web. The Sling mobile app doesn't have
> subscription management. Don't waste time looking for it in the app settings.

## Delete Your Sling Account Entirely

This is the nuclear option. It removes your entire organization, all employee data, all schedules, all history. It's permanent and can't be reversed.

**Only the account owner can do this.** Not just any admin. The person who originally created the company account.

### From the Web

1. Log in at [login.getsling.com](https://login.getsling.com)
2. Click your **name** in the top right
3. Select **Account**
4. Click **Delete account**
5. Select a reason for leaving
6. Enter your password to confirm

Once you verify your password, the account is gone. Every employee on the account loses access immediately.

### From the Mobile App

1. Go to **More** > **Delete account**
2. A pop-up appears. Click **Continue**
3. You'll be redirected to the Sling website
4. Follow the web steps above

So yeah, even from the app, you end up on the website.

> **TIP:**
> If you signed up using Google or Facebook, you'll need to reset your Sling
> password first at login.getsling.com/forgot-password. Sling doesn't pull your
> password from those services, so you need to create one before you can verify
> the deletion.

## Canceling a Toast+Sling Integration

If you use Sling through Toast (the POS system), your account works differently. Toast acquired Sling in 2023, and now many restaurants access Sling through their Toast subscription.

To disconnect:

1. Log in to your **Toast account** at pos.toasttab.com
2. Go to the **Sling integration page**
3. Next to each connected location, click the **three dots** (overflow menu)
4. Select **Disconnect**
5. Confirm for each location

After disconnecting, you can delete the standalone Sling account separately if needed. Or contact your Toast representative for help with bundled plans.

## What You Lose When You Cancel

Sling's free plan isn't bad for basic scheduling. But it's limited (for a deeper look, see our [Sling review](/blog/sling-scheduling-review)):

| Feature | Free | Premium ($1.70/user) | Business ($3.40/user) |
| -------------------- | ---- | -------------------- | --------------------- |
| Scheduling | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Time-off requests | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Team messaging | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Time tracking | No | Yes | Yes |
| Overtime monitoring | No | Yes | Yes |
| Kiosk clock-in | No | Yes | Yes |
| Labor cost reports | No | No | Yes |
| Payroll integrations | No | No | Yes |
| Custom permissions | No | No | Yes |

If you need time tracking and your team has outgrown 30 people, the free plan won't cut it. ## Why People Leave Sling

Based on reviews from G2, Capterra, and Reddit, the most common reasons people cancel Sling:

- **Toast acquisition confusion.** Since Toast bought Sling, some features have changed, and the integration path isn't always smooth. A Capterra reviewer put it bluntly: "After Toast took over, things started breaking that used to work fine. Updates feel like they're for Toast's needs, not ours."
- **Free plan gaps.** The free tier is generous for plain scheduling, but no time tracking on free is still a dealbreaker for many teams. You end up tracking hours somewhere else.
- **Sync issues.** Multiple reviews mention schedule changes not syncing reliably across devices. One G2 reviewer wrote: "Employees would show up for shifts that had been changed hours ago because the notification never came through."
- **Limited reporting.** Even on paid plans, labor cost reporting and analytics are basic compared to dedicated workforce tools.
- **Support quality.** A recurring theme across GetApp and Capterra: "Support responses are slow and generic. When something breaks on a busy night, you need answers fast, not a ticket number."

If any of these sound familiar, you're not alone.

## What to Switch To

If you're leaving Sling, here's what's worth looking at:

![Turnozo scheduling app with drag-and-drop shifts](/blog/screenshots/turnozo-homepage.png)

- **[Turnozo](https://turnozo.com)**: Free for up to 10 employees, all features included. Beyond that, it's $2.47/employee/month with no per-location fees and no feature gating. GPS-verified clock-in, geofencing, shift swaps, absence management.
- **[Homebase](https://joinhomebase.com)**: Free for 1 location, up to 20 employees. Good for single-location businesses, but per-location pricing adds up fast. See our [Homebase review](/blog/homebase-review).
- **[When I Work](https://wheniwork.com)**: Starts at $2.50/user/month for basic scheduling, but time tracking requires the $4/user plan. See our [When I Work alternatives](/blog/best-when-i-work-alternatives).

## Before You Cancel

A few things to do first:

1. **Export your data.** Download any timesheets, schedules, or reports you might need later. Once the account is deleted, it's gone.
2. **Tell your team.** If you delete the company account, every employee loses access immediately. Give them a heads-up.
3. **Check your billing cycle.** Cancel right after you've been charged so you get the full month of paid features. No refunds for partial months.
4. **Try the free plan first.** If you're not sure you want to leave entirely, downgrade to Free instead of deleting. You can always delete later.
